Leagues: Summer Playoffs RecapPublished: Sep 11, 2012 - 03:07 PM
The Monday Playoffs was rescheduled to the next Saturday due to the morning rainout and took place along with the TUC All Star Challenge, with the competitive finals being filmed to be aired on Rogers TV. The competitive finals saw a very close game that went back and forth from the beginning to the end. Both teams put on display of how (and how not) to play ultimate for the cameras and came down to the final point of play to decide a winner. Congrats goes out to the Krash Kart who defeated Allth Darth, 16 - 15, to become the 2012 TUC Monday Competitive Champions. In the Intermediate division The Krabs beat out the Playground Bullies for the title.
Just like the Monday Playoffs the Tuesday Summer League playoffs was pushed back to the next Sunday, which turned out to be a gorgeous day to be playing. Congrats goes to back-to-back Tuesday Competitive Champs The Hive as the defeated the up and coming Zen 15-11 in the Competitive finals. The other Tuesday finals saw Masters of Karate & Friendship for Everyone beat Piggy Wants the Conch in the Intermediate finals and in the Recreational championships The Mild Mannered Bone Crushers beat out Que Fait Ma Main for the title.
Even though the fields were still "damp" from the previous day raining, the Wednesday and Thursday playoffs went on as planned with the Wednesday competitive finals being filmed the next Saturday by Rogers TV. Congrats to Redi who defeated Sweet 17-15 in the Wednesday Comp Finals. Both teams also put on a fantastic display of ultimate for the cameras. Also, congrats goes out to Erin's Wolfpack for defeating Frizzy Bees in the Wednesday Intermediate championships and to Force Lions for their victory over Hot For Teacher in for the Wednesday Recreational title.
In the Thursday Playoffs, The Ultimate Warriors defeated Panic! with the disc-yo for their first Thursday Summer Championship. The other Thursday divisions saw I got 99 Problems... defeat Charlie Hustlie for the Intermediate championships and Discarded Youth edge out Frisbee University for the Recreational title.
Again, thank you to all those who participated and a very SPECIAL thanks to all the volunteers who came out to help make both weekends a success. Let's do it all again next year (minus the rain of course).
