Ultimate Tournament Simulator 2021

Event date:
Saturday, February 6, 2021 - 05:00 to Thursday, March 28, 2024 - 22:34

It's hard to imagine that it's been between 10 – 16 months since most of us have had the opportunity to play in a tournament. Even those of us who have been finding other ways to stay active will experience a bit of "whoa" moment the first time we go to play again.

That's why we want to invite you and your teams – from both TUC and our friends in leagues and club teams around the globe, to join us for Tournament Simulator 2021 presented by BE Ultimate (then you can kick back and relax on Superbowl Sunday).

What do I do to participate?

An athlete will cover over 4km in an average ultimate game, with 500m of that being high-intensity running and 200m being sprinting (Source: https://pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/26595132/). Everyone has different access to exercise options right now - some will need to do indoor, no-equipment workouts, others will have more options available. To complete this challenge, you need to do your best to simulate three games worth of effort in one day (5 am to midnight).

That could be online workouts, running, stationary bike, skating on the pond, or a mix of any exercise options you have available. It's up to you to decide how hard to push and what you can safely handle (we are neither medical professionals; nor certified trainers – if you have any reason to be concerned about health and safety, please consult with a professional).

It's challenge by choice - if you're committed to being that stay-at-home, stationary handler who heads out to be an o-line specialist every 6th point - you do you!

Right now, we're planning to use the following platforms where people can post ways they're participating or about how much they regret agreeing to do these three workouts in 1 day:

  1. A pinned thread on Reddit.com/r/ultimate
  2. Facebook Event Page

We're also considering a Google-form and Sheet where athletes can log their efforts. But we're open to ideas, so send them our way if you have them!

Cost:

There aren't any massive prizes; there's also no official sign-up or cost to participate. We really want this to be something that our community can opt into if they're up for a challenge.
