It's very common at College level (which most of their guys are). It's somewhat common in the AUDL, although there are rules about spiking (no spiking near opponent players). Most players just whip the disc in the air.

Also, this game was more civilized than the last time nextgen played goat. Spiking is a small part of it.

Post subject: Excessive Celebration - NexGen vs GOAT  PostPosted: Jul 28, 2012 - 12:10 PM

So last night I went to watch GOAT play NexGen and I was surprised when a NexGen player celebrated the game tying point by punting the disc. The crowd booed loudly and let the heckles rain. On subsequent points more players took their turns toe punting the disc, and I believe one player even spiked it then kicked it.

Is this standard at the elite level? I have minimal touring experience and I've seen the odd spike, but last night NexGen looked like a bunch of overzealous punks.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a huge football fan, and I love a good celebration, but they took it too far. Frankly, I regret paying to support their team, but happy that I was able to see GOAT play.
