Best Perspective from Players on the Sidelines?
Just curious if players on the sidelines are allowed to offer input in a In/Out call? (or any other discussion)
I've heard many a person say 'let the people on the field decide' but I'm unclear if that's actually a rule?
It happened to me last night, I was on the sidelines not playing and the opposing team caught the disc on the sideline. One of my teammates called him out. I clearly saw that he landed inbounds.
I always struggle with this, as we have some new players that come from 'refereed' sports, so they're still learning to call their own fouls. As a captain, I feel that I should be helping new players on my team learn the 'attitude' of Ultimate, especially since we play Rec level and I think it's silly to 'make a play for the disc' when there's any chance you can cause injury.

Re: Best Perspective from Players on the Sidelines?
I am fairly sure it has to be someone on the field.
As defined by USAU 11th Edition in the definitions section:
Best perspective: The most complete view available by a player that includes the relative positions of the disc, ground, players, and line markers involved in a play. On an unlined field, this may require sighting from one field marker to another
Player: Any of the up to fourteen persons participating in the game at any one time.
Because a "player" is defined as one of the 14 persons on the field, the sideline cannot make the call, just someone on the field.

I can't find a rule that supports this at the moment, but it's at least commonly accepted that if there is a dispute on the field, the players are allowed to ask people on the sideline for their opinion, and take that into account when resolving the dispute.
Did you get that thing I sent you?
