how does one live without AC?

Postby Kevo » Tue Jul 12, 2005 11:36 am

Anyone have any creative stories about living without AC?

I plan to stay as long as possible in shopping centres and movie theatres.

An Air Conditioned/Climate Controlled Ultimate field would be perfect...

A friend of mine took a book on the subway and rode for several hours.

How about IKEA? I think they have a shuttle bus now from the subway station. You could spend all day there. Get a $1 breakfast, test out the chairs and office furniture, have a $1 lunch, take a nap and test out the mattresses. Bring a book and/or laptop. They might even have wireless internet access there. Who knows?

IKEA shuttle bus

Sadly, the shuttle bus is not air conditioned.

Robarts

A friend of mine was kicked out of his house by his parents and ended up living at Robarts Library for a month. I think Robarts is air conditioned. Apparently there are some good hiding spots where you can sleep, and showers at the Athletic Centre or Hart House are only a short walk away.

Airport?

Postby lukefraser » Tue Jul 12, 2005 2:02 pm

I thought maybe the airport would be a good place to hang out but apparently not. Why not just stay home and open the fridge door?

How about this bit of Canadian ingenuity?

I just live with it. Stay in the basement is another option.

What the...? A tip on how to live without AC in November? I guess we should be giving tips on how to live without heating. My tip about going to IKEA is still valid. I'm fairly sure the shuttle bus has heating.
