Have you ever noticed that, with all the sequels being released, there is one genre which seems to never generate sequels? I'm talking about Romantic Comedies. Those shiny little baubles giving sparkle and colour to our otherwise drab, plaid covered, half-caf soy latte, hipster lives. Of course there are a few exceptions like the amazingly well written Before Sunrise/Sunset/Midnight trilogy and the much more fun but overly saccharine Bridget Jones trilogy (you could bring up the Sex In The City movies but...please don't...) but the reason there aren't rom com sequels is that the sequel will always change the happy ending which made the original a comedy. We want to believe that there is a happy ever after for someone somewhere.

But do you know what has amazing sequels? Nine of them to date?

And a tenth sequel is set to debut this Wednesday, October 25th. Season XI's theme is Rom Coms!

Slater-Kramer (Anthony Slater and Greg Kramer...no name yet...willing to crowdsource. I vote Kramer vs Kramer since Slater is pretty irrelevant on this team)

Tell all your friends to keep checking this topic. The GMs have been challenged to post on here. It might be funny, pithy, scathing, sarcastic, bombastic, witty, scandalous, ostentatious, or, heck, even romantic and comedic.

Thanks for getting the BBS party started, Hin. Ever since April, it feels like the TUC BBS has been overtaken by men looking for teams and teams looking for women. Well, that's about to change as the greatest and most definitely one of the best 27 ultimate leagues in Toronto is back to remind everyone why the BBS is still linked on the home page.

Biggest news for the season is the move to 3:3 gender ratio. Sadly, this may have contributed to the whole "men looking for teams" thing, but seeing how we sold out the female spots in record time, we're very excited about the change.

Oct 24th, 2017 – Entry 1: Pre-Season

1 day to go before it all begins!

I’ve been getting Lindsay to toughen me up by verbally insulting me over the last week to prepare for all the heckling that happens on the sidelines. Luckily for me we start the season off at 8pm which is always the best time slot to get away from the peanut gallery.

Been trying to figure out a strategy on how to make Lindsay agree to letting me trade for all the ROY guys with little success since she actually wants to win the league. I think the real challenge this season won’t be winning but will be Lindsay not killing me. So far, she regrets nothing but I don’t think she knows what she’s gotten herself into.

Oct 30th, 2017 – Entry 2: Perennial Gm's (Also Gms of the Year) Hin and Agatha vs. The Rookies.

Dear Diary (I was told I needed to add this for authenticity),

Man did we learn a hard lesson last week! Never get tricked by Hin and Agatha's friendly demeanor. They are ruthless when game time starts. What started as a close game quickly turned into a blow out win for the Vets. Leaving Lindsay and I crying on the sidelines wondering where we went wrong in our draft. (some may say it was drafting a TC legend in the second round).

We thought the plus to all this was that we wouldn't have to worry about Cap this week and trading would be a breeze! People forgot to mention though that when you get blown out that badly your teams cap is so low that you basically have to trade away everyone... Trying to make up 80k to get above the floor is no easy task in week one.

It was a rough introduction to GM life and most definitely made me realize i'm probably getting fired from my real job because my Thursdays and Fridays are now spent negotiating trade deals.

On the bright side we can only go up from here... I hope!

this is where I address the comments you commented to me, while sitting in a corner.
1. To nfaries, regarding putting Huang in the TA side bet. I though it was fair to put him up against two players. If he proves successful (or unsuccessful, depends how you look at it), I will match him up against 3 players, then 4, and so on until he is finally outmatched.
2. To Huang, regarding your throwaways, you commented that you will sign yourself into rehab if you complete over 5 throwaways tonight. In response, I have alerted a medical professional and a car will be standing by in the likely case that you will need transportation to said facility.
3. To Raoul (I did not promise anonymity), regarding Marko feeling jealous of all the GM bromances, and wanting a bro of his own. If anyone is interested in being Marko's bro, please send me a quick message describing yourself and detailing why you'd make a good bro. I will choose the best bro for Marko and put you in contact with him.
4. To Colphon, who heard TPL was starting a dating pool. This is an unsubstantiated rumour. However, if there are any singles out there who are looking for love, please send me a quick description of yourself and why you'd make a good couple and who you have a crush on and I will do with this information whatever I deem appropriate.
5. To Hayden Andrews, who commented that he "is not in a romantic relationship with this font colour". All comments appear to me in a very tasteful, black font. Please elaborate in your next comment what font colours you find offensive and I will do my best to eliminate these colours from my survey. I also might do nothing.
6. To Max Power, who heard there might be a lottery system for registration next year. What will this do to TPL? It will give those too lazy to set an alarm on their phone at 11:58am on a Monday a chance to take a spot from those of us who practice logging in to tuc.org twice daily. It gives a chance to people with really important jobs, who can't hide somewhere in the back to sign up after business hours. It gives a chance to those who think "hmm, maybe I'll sign up for this TPL thing tomorrow. Or maybe I won't cause I don't really care that much." Are these the kinds of people we want in TPL? The answer is no.
7. To Nick Hung, who has started a rumour that Curtis Reason already has a TPL tattoo, I would believe it.
8. To Victor Rehorst, who commented that he is "making picks practically at random and loving it", I too love that you are doing that. For let us all remember that the prize is a mere tin can. A tin can whose contents were long ago removed. Show me a man who desires that can and I'll show you a fool.
9. To Ca_ta, who heard thatKevin Christensen is back in TPL to replace Barry Goldlist, this has been substantiated. What I'd like to know is where did Barry Goldlist go and who made him go there?

Nov 6th, 2017 – Entry 3: Off to a rocky start

Dear Diary,

After a rude awakening in week one Lindsay and I went into week 2 with what we hoped would be the start of our journey as TPL GM legends... sadly that day is going to have to wait. We soon learned our team needs to do some serious work on their cardio, Like a lot of work! With a combined score differential of -16 in both games second halves we are limping over the finish line (Sorry Eric).

So what do we do? We bring in Galloway who should provide a decent distraction to the other team, with those brown flowing locks that some how defy every law of physics. He is like the Barney Stinson of TPL it just isn't possible to take a bad photo of him and I challenge anyone to try and prove me wrong. Note to self: Bring hat for Galloway just in case he starts distracting our team as well... Sorry what were we talking about again.

Right TPL. I said it last week we could only go up from there and I think going from a -9 to a -7 score gap in the second half is definitely a... small improvement, but an improvement none the less so here's to aiming high and going for a second half score gap of -5 this week!

One of Weds 9 pm game's between Kaity and Colphon and Fat Greek Raoul might have the highest # of Roy boys playing in the same game(so far) this TPL season.

Predictions:

Dan Ngai to hangout in the endzone, cause that's where all the action is at.

Huang be the (sub)hero to carry the Fat Raoul over the Tradelist? Or will he just come throw away all the discs, he doesn't do while playing with Bones and Lindsay because he doesn't want to tank his salary nor make their team lose by more.

Dip - keep quietly putting together a solid TPL performance

Raoul - be fat and greek, innapropriately yell greek vocab.

Colphon - Repeat innapropriate greek vocab, get yelled at by Kaity.

I expect the peanut gallery to be filled with more Roy boys (if they aren't playing) bring on the chirps!

this is where I address the comments you commented to me, while sitting in a corner.
1. To Raoul, who said “Nick Edwards is a God among men. Real facts.”. Nick Edwards’ hair is blonde. Nick Edwards’ first name is Nicolas. Nick Edwards is taller than the average male. Nick Edwards earned a modest $28,000 in TPL salary last night. These are real facts. Nick Edwards is a God among men is something you made up to protect Nick Edwards’ feelings after being targeted in this week’s betting pool blurbs. Beware my wrath.
2. To Rehorst, who commented "The moon is waning gibbous this week. There are less than 50 days until Xmas. Rumours that I bet against myself this week are greatly exaggerated." The moon is waning gibbous? If this were a first date I'd be asking for the cheque right about now. There are less than 50 days until Xmas? You've won me back for I too am a devoted worshipper of X. Rumours that you bet against yourself are greatly exaggerated? The real question is, after you bet against yourself did you throw your stats on purpose?
3. To Kramer, who said "You've chosen check boxes instead of radio buttons. This is a poor choice unless you're offering multiple options per bet. I will attempt to take advantage and see what happens. If I were to grade this survey on a scale of Vegemite to pistachio butter... I give it a Horseradish Mayo." Part one of this comment has a complicated response which is, \displaystyle \sum_{n} \frac{1}{n^s} = \prod_{p} {\frac{1}{1 - \frac{1}{p^s}}}. I think you understand now. Regarding your grade of Horseradish Mayo, there is nothing I hate more than Horseradish Mayo. It combines two of my least favourite things. Kind of like how you combine two more of my least favourite things: dopiness and curly hair.
4. To Colphon, regarding not having anything new to say. As the old adage goes, if you don't have anything new to say, don't say anything at all.
5. To Darrel, who said "Do you really think we're going to lose? I asked you about those trades, they are good! Why Destin? Why? Good job as always, I like when you run out of things to say halfway through but then you get a second wind and you are fun again in the end." Yes, I thought we were going to lose and thank you, I like that too.
6. To Max Power, who commented "Congratulations on finally figuring out how to hyperlink this in your BBS post." Joke's on you, I hardly know what a hyperlink is. I just copy pasted like I've done every other week and I guess something magical happened. Do not expect this type of convenience to happen on a weekly basis.
7. To Hayden Andrews, who said "I see a black font now. this is acceptable to my eyes". I for one do not think we should settle for "acceptable". This season is all about romance so be prepared for me to romance your butt off with different font colours. We WILL find the perfect match.
8. to Kramer, who said "((most (G + A +2A + D) - (TA + drops)) has many parenthesis." I (Destin McQuillan) believe (above all else) that there can never (and I mean never) be too many parentheses.
9. To @realdonaldtrump, who said "More lies from Fake Frisbeedia reporting 22% approval. I pick only winners. Why no investigation into Krooked Kramer and other GMocrats? SAD!". I have launched an investigation and believe you will find this week's numbers more to your liking and I only expect them to climb from here. Throw my stats for a soup can? I don't think so. I've been giving my 100% while being in complete and utter awe at the amazing level of play from everyone else in this league :heart:

It's pretty incredible. I'm learning a *lot*. I wish every league was this amazing!
