Layout July 2004, Volume 1

Hello TUC Member,

July marks the end of a soggy Round 1, with the start of Round 2 well under way this brings us to the middle of our summer season. Better known as Mid-Season! We want to thank our members for their support and patience as we move in new directions. Most of the bugs have been worked out, and we continually work to improve our new systems. We appreciate your efforts in helping to maintain the cleanliness of our fields (what comes with you goes home with you). Have a great second round!

Mid-Season 2004 @ Sunnybrook Park

This is an opportunity for all TUC teams to experience the fun of a Toronto Ultimate Club Tournament. What better way for a new team to gain experience and to get in a full day of ultimate? The Mid-Season tourney takes place July 17 & 18th at Sunnybrook Park. For more information and to register please click below.

Shout out to all members! We still need volunteers to help us at Mid-Season. This is a great way to still take part in the tourney if you are unable to play. You will be rewarded for your efforts!!! Please email admin@tuc.org to arrange to set up your hours.

Mid-Season 2004

WHAT A PARTY!

"I hadn't seen so many Ultimate partiers since Gender Blender! It was a total blast; great music, great prizes to be won, and lots of dancing. It is hard to imagine how the party at the Devil's Martini could have been better!!!" - Galen Midwinter, Events Chair

Thank you to all who helped make this happen, and to all who volunteered their time without being asked. This was by far the best attended TUC event in league history. Keep your eyes peeled for the next big event!

PIEPLATE Volume 2!

Well doing the first PIEPLATE of the year was so much fun, I thought I'd try it again. The next issue - to be printed in the fall - is already in the works and we need people to lend their talents. If you have a story idea, a flare for proofreading, or some cool photographs that you've been dying to show off, here's your chance.

If you want to help us in any way email me at pieplate@hotmail.com or go to the BBS and join the Pieplate user group.

Solstice 2004 Thanks & Results

On behalf of tournament organizers Heather Harding, Nina Ladocha and myself, I would like to thank all those who joined us and helped make Solstice's 6th year a tremendous success.

The weather - with the exception of a brief field softening downpour - was great weather for Ultimate. I would like to make special mention of Toronto's Teresa Boyle who is developing Toronto's juniors scene and had over 20 juniors under her wing at Solstice; and to Colin who brought another Juniors touring team from Ottawa. Other highlights include the return of Minnesota's Flaming Mo for the second straight year and over 120 combatants in Derek Sigurdson's 6th Annual World's Largets Cups Tournament.

Congratulations to Solstice 2004 champions Joystik (Open), Snatch (Women's) and Bombing Madd Fatties (Co-ed).

Keep working on your game,

Michael McDerment

ULTIMATE AS A 10 MINUTE ARGONAUT HALF-TIME SHOW

The Toronto Argonaut Football Club has approached TUC about discounted Argo tickets. WE turned the tables on the Argos and told them that we'd be more interested in performing a half time show. If we can get about 500 people interested in buying tickets at under $20 each they say we can do the half-time show. What we need now is for you to participate in a survey of interest. Just click on the link below if you are interested in attending ... that's all we need to find out if we can make this happen!!! Please note that you are not required to do anything more than follow the link.
