FALL OUTDOOR PLAYOFF RESULTS - 1 DOWN, 3 TO GO!

2011 TUC Monday Fall Outdoor Recreational Champ - TBDThe fall outdoor season is slowly coming to a close as the Monday recreational league played their final game on October 17th at Lamport Stadium. The finals saw the two top teams from the regular season, TBD and I’ve Got 99 Problems But a Disc Ain’t One, battle it out on a windy and chilly night for the right to be named TUC’s 2011 Monday Fall Recreation League Champions. The undefeated 99 Problems had already won a game over TBD in the regular season and were the favourites heading into the game.

With wind steadily going in one direction (though there was a slight crosswind) TBD started the game going down wind and used that advantage to take a slim lead into half. The second half started out with both teams struggling to consistently work the disc against the wind that has now slightly picked up. The first point of the 2nd half took about 10 minutes when 99 Problems started made a nice 30 yard huck down the line to break the scoreless streak to cut into TBD’s lead.

TBD managed to maintain lead throughout the second half until about 2 minutes remaining in the game where 99 Problems stepped up the pressure and scored successive points to tie the game with about a minute left in the game. After several turnovers from both teams and under 20 seconds remaining the game TBD capped off a final drive with a 20 yard cross field hammer that found a wide open receiver in the back of the endzone for an 11-10 win for TBD.

Congrats to TBD for being the 2011 TUC Monday Fall Outdoor Recreational League Champions.

UPCOMING FALL OUTDOOR FINALS

On Tuesday October 18th the Tuesday Competitive/Intermediate league at Downsview Park playoffs gets started as Hammer Hawks (4–1) takes on Playground Bullies (3-2) in one semi final matchup and Tony & Carmel (4-1) vs TBD (4-1) in the other. The winners will face off in the finals next week Tuesday (October 25th). With three teams sporting a 4 win and 1 loss record the Tuesday Competitive playoff is sure to be exciting right down to the bitter end.

Will RAAAAH! (5-0) complete an undefeated season in the Thursday Fall Intermediate league at Cherry Beach, or will the Warriors take them down in the finals on November 3rd?

In TUC’s longest running fall outdoor league Red October is looking continue their Sunday Fall Outdoor league dominance and repeat as champs. Or is Black November going to regain their championship form from 2009 after a tough early season loss to Tony & Caramel? Will it be El Guapo or 2008 champs Abunai to join the top 4? We get to find out when the semi’s and finals take place on November 6th (time and location tbd).
