The Big Day – Saturday, September 22

Scally's Cup
TUC and Scallywag's will host the first Scally's Cup, from 3pm-6pm at Sunnybrook Park. Starting at 3pm, the champion Tuesday League Team will battle the Thursday League Champs. The winner hoists the Scally's Cup. Then at 4:30pm, the TUC Championship match between the Monday League Champs and the Wednesday League Champs. The winner hoists the TUC Summer Championship Trophy. Plus, the participants and winners are gonna get some great prizes including Scally's Dollars for free food, free beer from Molson, and more!!! Everyone come on out and see it live as the best from each night go head-to-head!

TUC Annual General Meeting – IMPORTANT VOTE
Starting at 7pm at Scallywag's (2nd Floor meeting room). All TUC members are strongly encouraged to participate and are also able to vote. The agenda will roughly be as follows: Approval of 2006 AGM Minutes, Report from TUC Board of Directors, Report on TUC Finances, Report from TUC General Manager, Nomination and Election of Board members, and Other Business - meaning major Club matters. The main items discussed will be the Fields Fund and the membership structure.

There has been a proposal (approved by the Board) to reduce the Field Fund from $25 per TUC member to $10 per TUC member (thereby reducing the TUC member fee to $50). The proposal will be discussed and a vote by the membership in attendance will determine the outcome. For a better understanding of the Field Fund proposal please visit the thread on the BBS (be sure to scroll down) which includes a description of the proposal. An addition to the membership structure will also be proposed, to include an introductory Year 1 membership fee to attract newcomers (or long-ago members) to join TUC. This will not be voted on at the meeting but discussed at length to determine its viability.

The TUC Board of Directors is looking for new and interested TUC members to join the team! The main responsibilities of the Board of Directors are to approve and monitor Club finances, recruit/hire/evaluate staff, and develop ideas and plans that will guide the Club into the future. The Board of Directors were instrumental in the development of our most-recent Strategic Plan. They have also had a tremendous impact on the success of the Club in terms of overall direction and management. Board members are elected to serve a two-year term and are asked to attend approximately 8-10 meetings throughout the year. Want to be a part of our future success? Come to the AGM on September 22!

TUC Summer End Party
Starting at 9pm at Scallywag's WITH EXCLUSIVE USE OF THE ROOFTOP PATIO! That's right, its TUC members (and their friends) only on the 3rd Floor patio. This night signifies the end of the summer season and is a great way to meet people you played against throughout the season... or just other Ulty players in general! We'll have prizing, contests, Ultimate on the TV's, presentation of Scally's Cup and Summer League Trophy... it will be a truly festive night. See the attached poster (send along to all your teammates and friends) and we'll see you and your pals at the party!

Sincerly,

The TUC Team

For August is Alison Fletcher!

August's volunteer of the month is Alison Fletcher. Alison has spent the past year as Co-Chair of the Canadian Ultimate Championships, and in crunch time her poise and leadership were on full display at the Nationals. Alison also serves on the TUC Board of Directors and is an active member in discussing the Club’s future and mapping its success. Perhaps her greatest feat has been mastering the art of motherhood and sleepless nights while still finding time for Ultimate.

Thanks Alison (go get some rest)!

The 2007 Volunteer of the Month awards are brought to you by Scallywags Bar & Restaurant. Each Volunteer of the Month receives $50 Scally's Dollars that can be used towards any purchase at Scallywags!

Skills, Drills, and Thrills – TUC Beginner Clinic on September 29

On Saturday, September 29 TUC will host the next great Ultimate Clinic. This will be a beginner clinic hosted at the new Hershey Sports Complex in Mississauga (near 401 & 403). The clinic will run from 3pm to 5pm. Learn the ropes of Ultimate Frisbee including basic skills, drills to simulate game flow and encourage techniques, and simple strategies of game play and the indoor speed point system. Instruction will be provided by touring TUC experts.

The clinic is also a great opportunity to check out the new Hershey Sports Complex and learn about the 5-on-5 TUC supported Rec League that will be taking place there starting October 14. The clinic is free for all to attend.

Every Sunday

Every Sunday from 2:30 – 5:30pm all TUC members are welcome to come on out and play pickup. We will play at Riverdale Park East (or move to Riverdale West if there is too much traffic). Pickup is completely informal and voluntary, but lots of fun. This is a great way to introduce new players to the game.
