The Fall Outdoor League review

This years' Fall Outdoor League featured 48 teams playing on Sundays at various central locations, during 3 time slots. For the most part, the weather cooperated and the snow stayed away. Most of the games were played in balmy conditions, although many windy days did occur. In the end Red October won the overall title for the third year in a row. A good majority of Fall Outdoor League players celebrated the victory at the Goose & Firkin, raising a glass with friends and enjoying some pub grub to boot. TUC pitched in by providing some cheer, along with providing red GAIA/TUC-branded visors to the winning team members. Red October was awarded a unique wooden disc trophy with the TUC logo lasered into the wood. The winners of the other 7 tiers will be receiving similar smaller trophies in the mail in the near future. Thanks to all captains, participants and especially Warren Foltz who fulfilled the role of convener. Next year, we are looking to expand by at least 12 teams, making it an even 60.

Congratulations to the Tier 2 champions Catastrophe who beat Catch It and to the Tier 1 co-champion PlayToys and Hello Kitty!, who finished their playoff game in a tie. Winning teams will be awarded the TUC wooden disc trophy and can expect these to be delivered early in the new year.

Thanks to Jason Lansdowne, your Fall Indoor convener for his time, effort and dedication to the sport!

A Message from the board

Season's Greetings TUC members,

Just want to take this opportunity to talk to you about a few items.

Firstly, the Annual General Meeting was held last month and agenda items were discussed and reviewed. One important item was the election of new members to the Board of Directors. Please welcome new additions to the Board for a two-term - Kirk Nylen, Stephane Levac, Erin Dwyer, and Renee Tratch and the reelection of Rob Botman. They all have a great enthusiasm for the sport and a spirited concern for the ongoing betterment of TUC and its members. As we move forward to planning the upcoming 2005 season, their contribution will be vital; so if you have any issues, suggestions, or questions regarding the direction of the League, please feel free to contact them or any of the continuing Board members. Contact information is available on the TUC website see below for link.

Secondly, we would like to thank each and every one of you for being members of our club, and making this past year another fun, competitive, and growing season for Ultimate in Toronto. We, the Board, trust that the changes made this past year - communications, fields, club community, tournaments, social events, etc. - were changes that were well received and brought enjoyment to you as a member of TUC. On this note, Christopher Lowcock will be back at the helm as General Manager for the 2005 season. During 2004, the League and everyone involved represented ourselves positively to the media, the local government, and the public, so feel proud of TUC and thank you very much for making it what it has become...and let's continue to show everyone what a wonderful sport and community Ultimate is!

Lastly, we hope you have a wonderful Holiday time and do keep the spirit of the season alive. We look forward to the new year and the start of the Winter Indoor season when we all get to see familiar faces, again. As well, keep tuned to the homepage for announcements of future Clinics and other events.

With thanks,
TUC Board of Directors
