Safety?
Suppose an offensive player is preparing to catch a pass, and the reckless deep defender is charging at full speed at said player and flying disc.
If the offensive player judges that their safety is at risk because the defender isn't paying enough attention to where they are going (possibly because they're watching the disc, possibly because they aren't thinking of safety) that they can step out of the way and call a foul based on dangerous play?
I would hate to think that they have to get hit and possibly injured in order to prevent a turnover.
I have also seen this play from the other side - the offensive player charging backwards to go after a disc and the defensive player shying away.
It's often a much smaller girl and a big guy...

Ha. I know I've been thinking about it for a while but didn't remember bringing it to the board... the unhappy response didn't stick.
I'll tell the girl to catch the disc and suck it up after the guy barrels her into the hospital!

As discussed in the other thread, it seems that the WFDF rule is superior to the USAU rule, which doesn't really have any good outcome. Given that this is most often a male-vs-female situation, and that USAU has been giving more (though some might argue that it's not much more...) than just lip service to gender equity, perhaps there's an opportunity for someone with a bit of spare time on their hands to start a campaign to get this rule changed?
Did you get that thing I sent you?
