New name for Leaguerunner

When I started on the new version of Leaguerunner, it looked like OCUA (the original developer) was going to join in, but it turns out that this is not the case. As such, while what I'm working on is functionally very similar (only better, IMO), we cannot call it Leaguerunner. I've never really thought it was all that catchy a name anyway, though it is quite descriptive.

So, here's the chance for all you creative types to put on your thinking caps and come up with a new name for this! We're targeting a release date in early August, so let's say you've got 1 week to come up with suggestions, after which time a short list of finalists will be put together and a decision will be made.

I haven't asked Jason yet about any prizing for the winning name (I got confirmation that we'll need a new name just after getting off the phone with him), but if nothing else I'm willing to personally pony up for a ticket to TUC's 30th Anniversary bash.

Just as there is a natural progression in ultimate from runner to handler, why not call it

Leaguehandler?

Toronto Ultimate Management System (aka T.U.M.S.)

No...I don't work for GlaxoSmithKline. ;)

When completed, this will be placed in the public domain (under the same general license as Leaguerunner), so that people all over the world may end up using it. Also, I'm doing my best to keep it sport-agnostic, so it may be picked up by soccer, baseball, softball, football, hockey or basketball leagues, and hence references to "Ultimate" may not be ideal.

Heck, there's not even any requirement that it be composed of real words. (The software we use for running the rest of the TUC site is called "Zikula", and other similar systems include Drupal and Joomla.)

a. Online Sports League Management Application (OSLaMA)
("Can we schedule every team with their preferred field?"/ "Yes we can!")

b. Vizzini
(reference: http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0093779/ )
("We scheduled every team with their preferred field? Inconceivable!")

c. Sheldon
(reference: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sheldon_Cooper )
(Tagline: "Cause running a sports league shouldn't be rocket science.")

No names really grabbing me so far, though "Vizzini" has a nice ring to it. I'm considering "Elzar". I started with "Ellar" (i.e. LR), but didn't like that. "Cellar" is worse. "Stellar" and "Excellar" seem unnecessarily hyperbolic. And then I remembered the 4-armed chef from Futurama.

Elzar seems ok, how about PULSAR.

How about Fieldbook?

I like Vizzini, too.

Maybe simpler is better:

d. LeagueGenie

I was liking Vizzini, but a quick Google turned up http://sourceforge.net/projects/vizzini/. Probably best not to have two open source projects with the same name. :(

LeagueGenie isn't bad, but I'm thinking maybe best to go with something that has neither League nor Runner in the name.

I think Pulsar's a great name for some software, just don't feel that it's THIS software. If you're going to use a real word, I think there should be something about that word that evokes something about the product, and I'm not sure what that would be in this case.

I liked Elzar what I thought of it, but like it less now. I do like the symbolism of a 4-armed chef for this software, and I like to think that this version is "knocking it up a notch" over the original, but the word itself doesn't roll off the tongue.
