Log in/Log out - which is it?

Postby Lari » Tue May 23, 2006 4:08 pm

Is anyone else experiencing difficulties after logging into the BBS?

If I try to move between forums, it seems to forget who I am and I can't get into the forums without logging on again...and again...and again...

Sometimes, it looks like I am logged in as someone else - I can see forums for teams that I don't belong to, but as soon as I click on something I have to log in...AGAIN...

It's driving me mental :x

Can anyone fix this or am I alone on this problem??

Maybe its because you play on the Cheese?

That would be frustrating, for sure.

I keep getting logged in as Bird which means I am good enough to play for GT, yet I still play on the Cheese?

What gives? Am I good or not?

I am certainly not SWEET...

Waitress: It's the soup of the day.
Lloyd: Mmm, that sounds good, I'll have that.

This is a known issue. Greg (our webmaster) is trying hard to get it working right.

In fact, there's an entire forum that's being used just to make fun of people when someone else ends up being logged in as them. It's one of the most popular forums.

Interestingly enough, I almost never have this problem. I mostly use the "View new posts since last visit" link. http://www.tuc.org/index.php?name=PNphp ... d=newposts

Yeah. It's a problem. Not only with this phpbb, but with another one that I went to today. It seems to be an issue with some core internal software... even when I goto the "view posts since last visit" (which I use exclusively).

It's funny, I've only seen the "log out" problem since the weekend... before that it seems like only the masquarding problem came back (without the logouts)... and even before that, all problems had been fixed.

PS> BC is getting slagged hard over there... good times :)
There is no finish line.

This certainly is a frustrating thing! I thought I had the problem nailed, but I was wrong. I went so far as to remove admin privileges from my normal account, and create a new admin user, so that people that find themselves logged in as me don't get to see stuff they shouldn't. I usually do admin stuff late at night, and now I make sure to log out as soon as I'm done, to minimize that danger.

Lennox, perhaps you could point someone in charge of that other BBS at this bug report where they can add their experiences and look for solutions. The more people that report this, the faster it is likely to be resolved. Hmm, I've just checked that page again and there's a mention of a possible fix (it was supposed to email me whenever a new post was made ), I'll try to get to that tonight.

Has the automatic log in stopped working for anyone else, or is it just me?

No, it's not just you.

I had problems connecting to the phpBB CVS server last night, and was unable to try their suggested fix. I'll give it another shot tonight.

I managed to connect to the phpBB2 CVS server, but I didn't realize that I was logged in as somebody else. So now Big Country has a fresh phpBB2 tarball sitting on his computer.

I have been having problems not only with not staying logged on but also being spontaneously logged on as other people. it shows their name instead of mine and I can even access whatever private forums they are on.

and not sure if this is related but once in a while the bbs shows up with a completely different theme [meaning colours, fonts, layouts etc.]

is this happening to others? makies me wonder if other people have been spontaneously logged on as me!

I'm doing everything I can to get this resolved, but unfortunately my options are essentially limited to reporting it to people that know the software well, and waiting for their replies. They are volunteers too, and they have many people asking them for help, so replies can be slow in coming.

In the meantime, I hope that everyone remembers that it's a Spirit foul to look at any of the private forums that you don't normally have access to, should you find yourself with new options.

1) is it bad to try to read goat's forum? you know, so i can learn to be a better player?
2) fyi the new IE 7 seems to be worse with this issue than any other browser/version i've used.

hey btw, it's hard to log out from the site these days. not intuitive to navigate to bbs to do so, esp if you're not me or greg or one of the other 2 people who use the bbs.

User Tools->Logout is too hard to find? I'll see about moving that option up a level, so it's on the main menu.
