SUMMER REGISTRATION ENDS SOON!

Wondering why your team captain is bugging you to sign-up for your 2006 TUC membership? That’s because we are now in the last week of summer registration! In order to complete team rosters, players must be registered for the season. Summer League teams must have a minimum of 12 registered players on their rosters by 11:59pm, Tuesday, April 18. This is the cut-off date for summer league play, so get registered online now!

Starting April 24 we will open registration for individuals who do not have a team to sign up for summer league. Spaces will be limited and the fee will be $30 per person.

Visit www.tuc.org for registration and all leagues info. Follow the website prompts to complete your individual and team registration or contact our Head Office if you are experiencing any problems.

 


Mark Your Calendar!

Image You have probably received your TUC “Events Calendar” in the mail and we hope that you post it on your fridge or reminder board to keep you in tune with major TUC happenings. Registration has now opened for one of those happenings, with another opening up soon:

Ultimate Long Weekend – individual registration is now open for ULW and spots are filling fast! ULW is a great long weekend escape from May 19 – 22, held at Olympia Sports Camp in Huntsville. The event features a raucous Ultimate tournament but will also include sport camp activities and an 18 hole disc golf course. This is one you definitely don’t want to miss! Cost is $195 per person and includes all meals and accommodations. Register online now as spots are limited!

May 6 Beach Hat & BBQ – on Saturday May 6 TUC will host its first ‘hat’ tournament of the year, on the beaches of Ashbridge's Bay. The event is FREE to all 2006 TUC members and will include a social bbq! Registration is now available online by individual only – all teams will be assigned on site to balance skill levels.

Juniors Ultimate Spring Tournament – on April 24 team registration opens for J.U.S.T., the largest Juniors-only tournament in the city! The event will be split into two components – a one-day high school championships on Friday, May 26 and a two-day Open championships on May 27-28 for any junior club or high school teams that wish to enter. Cost is $175 for May 26 and $275 for May 27-28. For more details visit our Juniors page on the web site. Spread the word! Let your school know about this great tournament and encourage them to sign up a team! JUST registration closes May 24.

Winter League Finale!

The TUC Winter Indoor season is wrapping up this week, with Monday Men’s finals already concluded (congratulations to Mandrew – Tier 1 Winners and O’Toole’s – Tier 2 Winners). Thursday Co-ed finals begin at 8:15pm (Field #4) with Norwood battling Go T’s in the ‘B’ Division. The ‘A’ Division finals are at 9:30pm (Field #4) with G Unit taking on Buck Naked. Tuesday’s finals, which were pushed to next week due to a Hangar power outage, will be at 11pm on April 18 with The Wonders pitted against Hat team #2. Best of luck to all competitors. Thanks to all participants and volunteers for another outstanding winter season.


Spring League Begins

Spring is here and the single gender leagues have begun. This Monday April 10th the women's league started off with a bang. Over 90 ladies showing up at the beach at Ashbridge's Bay ready to kick off the season. The men's league began on Wednesday April 12th and despite the rain, still had a good crowd. It looks to be just as popular as the ladies with almost 100 participants registered and ready to go.

Skill Clinic & Pickup This Saturday!

Our first skill clinic last week was very successful and this Saturday we are offering a joint beginner/intermediate clinic from 12-2pm at the Downsview Hangar (Field #3). Cost is $15 to participate and you can register online. Come on out and work on your skills for the summer!

There will also be a field available for pickup at the Hangar, from 1-3pm (Field #1). Spots are limited. Please contact clinics@tuc.org to sign up as spots are limited. Cost is $5 to help pay for the field rental.

 



TUC is happy to announce that the Canadian Ultimate Championships (CUC) will be held in Toronto in August 2007.

This amazing event will require the volunteer efforts of many people to be a success. The Bid Committee is initially looking for a select group of people to lead the event's planning and execution - the CUC '07 Organizing Committee. All positions on the Organizing Committee are currently open - all are welcome to apply. Please go to TUC Website for details on the roles.

Please send an email with a letter, a resume, or both, detailing why you believe you are the right person for the job you'd like to take on - to chair@tuc.org. Application deadline is May 15th, 2006. The CUC '07 Bid Committee looks forward to hearing from you.

BE ULTIMATE! City Clean-up April 22

We are still seeking volunteers for our City Clean-up initiative at Flemingdon Park on April 22, (Don Mills & Eglinton) from 10am-12pm. Volunteers will receive point credits towards the TUC Shop or their touring teams. Help us continue TUC’s long-standing history of giving back to Toronto. For more information contact gm@tuc.org.
