IMPORTANT NEWS

City Strike – Some Games Moved

There is a current City of Toronto Labour Strike that affects our permits and where we can play our games. It also means no grass cutting, garbage collection, etc. We are still hosting games however we are required to reschedule some games – please check with your captains and on the web site to confirm your game location. For example games previously scheduled at Sunnybrook and Eglinton Flats will or have been moved until the strike is over.

We will adjust field locations on a week-to-week basis. So next week’s games have not yet been rescheduled, as we are hoping the strike will end soon and we do not have to alter any further games. Keep checking the website for updates!

During this period of the city strike, fields will be tight and preferred locations will decrease – your patience, understanding, and Spirit of the Game when on the fields are greatly appreciated.

Please note – TJSL and clinics will continue as planned during the City strike

Next Clinics!!!

Sunday, June 28th – Team Clinic
Location: Riverdale Park East
Time: 12:00pm – 2:30pm
TUC Hosted Clinic – register online now!

Does your team struggle to get in sync? Need some help in learning how to play like a well-oiled machine? Then this clinic is for you! Bring your team down to the field for some expert instruction on team concepts, set plays, rule discussion, and how to play with Spirit of the Game. We will give your team the opportunity to learn some concepts TOGETHER and then try them out on the field. Everyone registers individually but you show up as a team on the day. Don’t worry if you’re just an individual, either – we’ll assign you to a team.

Sunday, July 12th – Intermediate Clinic
Location: Lamport Stadium
Time: 10:00am – 12:00pm
Register at: the Ontario Disc Sports Association
*Hosted by the Ontario Disc Sports Association*

Visit the Clinic home page article for more details (ie. what to expect, costs) and feel free to email clinics@tuc.org. Sign up online (with TUC or ODSA depending on event) prior to the clinic dates.

TUC Clinic League - Second Round

We will soon begin our second 7-week Clinic League of the summer – Clinic League is perfect for players who are new to the game or just want to raise their skills to the next level. The league will begin the week of July 20, at Sir Winston Churchill Park! It will run from 6:30 PM to dusk each week and will conclude the last week of August.

At the clinic league you will get expert instructions on improving your skills, basic team concepts, zones (offence & defense), strategies, rules and much more. Each week will provide a clinic on a specific topic for the first hour, which will then be followed by a scrimmage to practice those concepts.

You need to be a TUC Member in order to register for this league and registration cost is $35 for all 7 weeks. Full details and online registration will be available very soon!

The TUC Mid Season Classic is a tournament only for TUC summer teams, which is a festive environment and a great opportunity for teams to experience tournament play and work on their skills. The tournament is FREE of charge to TUC teams!!! Teams will play a minimum of 5 games (3 on Sat, 2 or 3 on Sunday). Format is regular pull, 7-on-7 co-ed however games only go to 15 instead of 17.

The 2009 edition will be hosted at Sunnybrook Park on July 18-19 weekend. Registration for the event is done online and is now open. Registration closes Tuesday July 14 so don’t miss out!

Sue Holland is the May Volunteer of the Month.

As a member of the TUC Social Committee, Sue was a key leader in hosting the Steam Whistle Boat Bash on May 30. A lot of effort went into this event; things like posters, tickets, promotions, sales, logistics, music, and prizing….. and she was a big part of that. The result was our best social event in years and everyone who attended had a blast.

Sue is also a regular volunteer with TUC tournaments and clinics and recently helped with our women’s tournament in March. She is an active participant in all things TUC and we can’t thank her enough for all of her contributions. Thanks Sue!

Are you interested in volunteering for TUC committees or helping out with player development? Contact volunteers@tuc.org.

Each V.O.M. will receive $50 Scally’s Dollars that can be used towards any purchase at Scallywags.

Summer Experience Tournament Results

The third installment of the TUC Summer Experience, June 13-14, was a truly fantastic weekend of ultimate. Congratulations to Tier 1 winners ‘Johnny Be Good’ and Tier 2 winners, the hat team! Also big props to Spirit winners Desklamp and Disc Oriented. Here are some pics from the weekend.
