Dear TUC Member,

Spirit of the Game

TUC is sponsoring a contest to help find a new “Spirit Statement” for our league. We are looking for submissions for a short statement which clearly defines what Spirit of the Game is, and why it is important. This statement will be used to promote spirited play in the league; it will appear on the TUC website, in TUC publications, and be used by TUC players as they help to spread the word. Take this chance to leave your stamp on the league while promoting spirit and winning some free stuff!

Submissions should be shorter than 12 words, and can be submitted directly to spirit@tuc.org. We are now accepting last minute submissions. The winner will receive a $30 gift certificate to the TUC shop, where anyone can pick up some discs, gear, VC apparel, etc.

Stay tuned for further Spirit of the Game updates and announcements in this spot. If you would like to volunteer with the Spirit Committee, have any stories you’d like to share, or questions you’d like answered, please email spirit@tuc.org.

TUC Annual General Meeting – Sept 22

The TUC AGM, which is the annual meeting of the membership, will take place on Tuesday, September 22, 7pm, at Scallywags (2nd Floor Meeting Rm). All TUC members are invited to attend and all members (with the exception of intro members) have voting rights at this meeting. The agenda for the meeting will be posted on the TUC homepage in the near future. Two items up for discussion and member approval will be a new Director Indemnity By-Law and a Proposal for a 30th Anniversary Celebration event. We encourage all members to attend and vote on these matters, as well bring anything to the table for our open forum period.

Become a TUC Board Member! At the AGM each year we nominate and elect new Board of Directors members. The Board of Directors meets roughly ten times per year and their mission is to help guide the Club in achieving our strategic goals and delivering quality ultimate offerings for the membership. If you are interested in being a part of this great team, email chair@tuc.org and we’ll hopefully see you at the AGM!

Bradley Wentworh is the August Volunteer of the Month.

Bradley Wentworth is our August Volunteer of the Month. A product of TUC Junior Summer Leagues himself, Bradley has given back tremendously to the TJSL this season. He was our convenor for the TJSL North region and he helped in promoting TJSL city-wide. Every Wednesday evening this summer, Bradley could be found leading upwards of 50 youth in ultimate drills and games. He coordinated the administrative aspects of the league and he was pivotal in providing instruction and encouragement to new young players. At our recent TJSL Finals, Bradley was once again a key figure in organizing games and providing a fun environment for our up and coming Juniors.

A big thanks to Bradley for all of his efforts this summer!

Are you interested in volunteering for TUC committees or helping out with player development? Contact volunteers@tuc.org.

Each V.O.M. will receive $50 Scally’s Dollars that can be used towards any purchase at Scallywags.

THANKS NINA!

Nina Ramic, our Events Manager, is no longer at the TUC office and is back to school this fall. We’d like to thank Nina for all of the hard work she put into her position this summer – Nina you did a fantastic job! We encourage all members to pop by the TUC tent at the playoffs and thank Nina for her efforts and wish her well.
