Glee -1.5 vs Tym Class
It was a long time coming, but after last week's huge win, how could I not make Glee a favourite? It's not like I'm going to have another chance to do it. So here you go. Well done, Glee club! Analysis: Well, there is a very short list of people whose presence might make BC think twice about hucking it to Steele. Greg Ellis is on that list. There is no doubt to Tym's superstars, but Louise counters with a very solid "Not-Greg-Ellis" core, who play strong enough to contain the stars and take advantage of lower matchups. For Tym, it's another NOBS reunion, so their list of playmakers is strong. But since I'm prone to grand generalizations, I'll leave it with this: If BC, Miekle and Sarah can have more assists than throw aways, they probably win. Glee by 1.5
Calculus -3.5 vs Health Klass
Anyone see Grundy's tweet last week? That's a lot of Union on Cal's starting line. Calc sports a "Big 6" of actual and "would-have-been" 1st and 2nd round picks. Yet despite this list of heavy hitters, Calc doesn't seem to suffer from the Usual problem of loading up on superstars: The "bottom" of Cal's roster doesn't have that "bottom" feel to it. They're solid. Health Klass has used a lot of team chemistry to present a balanced roster, with a decided advantage on ladies with Emma And K, With Norm deciding he now feels like running hard, it will take a clean, hard running effort from Health to have a shot. Calc by 3.5
Jubba -0.5 vs Grundy
Jubba is in the process of trying to acquire Shimmy for an absent Wangers plus future considerations. Assuming he pulls it off, how can you not bet on Shimmy and Matt Kirk? I look at Grundy's team and wonder who, besides Grundy, is going to catch the hucks? I mean, even if it isn't pick 6, are they really going to march it down the field every point? BOOOOOORRRRINNNGGG.
Slater -1.5 vs Amanda S
Side-bet: This is the highest scoring game by at least 5 points, OR has 10 more throwaways.
One look at Slater's roster and the word "possession" doesn't come to mind. It's more like: "Ty get the F away from that huck" I can't Logically say what Lady would say such a thing. This is going to be swill city, and Dempster will be sitting at the back with a goofy grin on his face. Amanda has a shot at keeping it close, and has a tonne of receiving talent. Someone has to step up as a mother chucker, especially to keep Cam deep and threatening. Slater by 1.5
Murl -2.5 vs Rajiv
Unless the terms of the Shimmy trade are mighty unfavourable, this line is a gift to the "cover" crowd. I might be just a bit biased, but Murl's roster has all the makings of a solid team, and enough handling talent down the draft board to keep his top guys, Shimmy, Kramer, Murl and Trevor, all downfield where they are at their most dangerous. Rajiv rolled the dice on Cam Harris, if he shows up, this is going to be a tight game. If not, the difference should be enough to give Murl the clean win. Murl by 2.5

Re: 2015 Winter TPL DISCRAFT
Onto the random stats… before the stats get too polluted with more meaningless games (except for Mean Murls 2.0 players, I expect playoff effort this week!) here are a few tidbits from the season:
I hate to do this right before a playoff game but I don’t want to bury the lead either…
Matt Denton put the finishing touches last week on winning 20 games in a 21 game stretch. He set the in-season record last year at 11-1 (as a GM no less), is riding a 7-0 streak this season (all with Health) and carried over 2 wins from Season 4. En fuego.
How balanced are the elite players?
Top 5 players ranked based on their average per game rankings in G, A, 2A, D
1. Greg Ellis 6.0 avg rank (lowest is 2A)
2. Cam Harris 6.75 (lowest is 2A)
3. Tom Jennings 10.25 (lowest is D)
4. Cam Dunning 13.5 (lowest is 2A)
5. Norm Lew 15.2 (lowest is D)
Ladies
6. Hadiya Roderique 15.3 (lowest is A... surprisingly)
23. Carolina Vargas 36.0 (lowest is D)
30. Kate Jardine 43.0 (lowest is A)
Who has the most spread out per game rankings?
Top 5 players ranked on standard deviation of their per game rankings
1. Vikki Shimoda 52.9 (too busy scoring)
2. Kirk MacRae 46.4 (allergic to throwing scores)
3. Michelle Chandler 45.0 (either doesn’t play D, or doesn’t get thrown on…)
4. Jeff Steele 44.5 (hard to get 2nd assists from the endzone)
5. Genevieve Daigle (also too busy scoring, the only >6 Games player without a 2nd Assist)
After last year’s lights out season from Kate Jardine, I didn’t think we’d need to look at this stat again but someone else is making it relevant:
Jardine Season V (12 games) - $136K earned per turnover
Kirk MacRae this season (5 games) - $127K earned per turnover
Jar is still the leader for full season players this year at a tidy $41.3K/turn.
For BC… who currently leads the league in TAs?
Not BC (yet)
And the normal finishing item as the end of season is in sight… Joel (during his tripleheader) dropped the disc in the game that mattered for stats, so we are down to 6 full-season dropless players… Keep your eye on, or feel free to cheer/heckle: Darrel, Dee, Emma, Rajiv, Christensen & Taunya!!

Glee and Health Class (I think HC will lose, but not by 3.5)
100.
And yes, I know that means 20 pushups this evening. I better do them before my game... I'm over 35, and I hear that isn't wanted on some frisbee teams.

Was the -3.5 just for the first 5 minutes? I don't think Health beat that spread to start either half.

Special Notes
Cam Harris' monster game of $108,500 ranks 2nd all time only behind the seemingly untouchable performance handed in by the retired Aaron "Kooch" Kucherawy who scored 9 Goals, 10 Assists, 4 Ds with only 1 Throwaway and 1 Receiver Error back in Season 3 Week 7.
I think I actually saw Cam H hucking the disc and running to the other endzone to catch his own huck. Maybe I also saw him wearing a cape and flying over all of us????.... lol

Has the value of each stat changed from season 3? Because Aaron's total comes to $108,500 using the numbers from this season.

Yeah i was going to say it is hard to lose a game where you put up numbers like that with just 1 TO. Then I noticed that CamD lost his game this week. Despite the best or second best performance (probably to his own) from this season.
He had an 8:1 Assist to turnover ratio while the other males on his team had 11A: 17TO, a 8 to .65 or 12.31x more efficient than the rest of the males on his team. I'm going to go out on a limb and say this is a record. Maybe it's another stats line of the week Mean Murl.

Sure. But on on the most important play of the game (rock-papers-scissors to determine which team got the tie-breaking point), he went 0 for 2.

I have to start with a shout out to Norm here. He goes 7 straight weeks of losses, then follows up with wins of 600, 1500, and 2000.
On that basis, Norm is now the clubhouse leader, even if he still owes 10 pushups.
In addition to Norm, JonB (x3 sets), Kramer(x2), new entrant Aalan, Rajiv, mmurl, Marcely, BC, LittleDeeDee, Dentonmatthew, and Nantana are all still owing.
On to this week.
Since we are doing the awards right after the final, there is only one game to count:
Calculus -6.5 vs Glee
This is the final of PARITY league, right?
Well, after being on the receiving end of one of the most lopsided losses in TPL history, and a "semi final" at that, I have seen the light when it comes to Calc. It's a well oiled machine, and getting solid Union-esque play from its stars. They used their whole team last week, and played with complete control.
Glee knocked off Tym Class with a gutsy team performance and strong defense on their main scoring threat, Jeff Steele. The team runs through Greg Ellis, and while he's good, he cant cover 4 guys simultaneously (seriously, look into cloning or something). Write me in for 1500 on Calc to win with the over.

Re: 2015 Winter TPL DISCRAFT
Hmmm, I don't think I've ever posted to this TPL thread. I guess now's as good a time as any.
First off, congrats to Homeroom: Calculus for their win over a determined Glee CLoub. What started as a close, point for point matchup (up to half time, if I recall correctly), eventually turned in favour of Calculus *cough Union cough*, who pulled away to win 24-17.
A long list of deserving TPLers were then given some end of season awards immediately following the championship game by Super Nintendo Chalmers (aka Matt Kirk, aka Cardi, aka "The Commish"), some based on their stats (e.g., most goals, most assists, most second assists, most Ds, etc.), and some based on popular votes (the TPL community at large for some of the categories, and the GMs for some others). Thanks to Slater for pulling together the fancy awards certificates, and to our wonderful Genevieve (aka "G" or "G-Star") for her wonderful high school themed TPL Discraft award discs.
Here, in no particular order, are the Winter 2015 TPL award winners:
Male MVP - Greg Ellis
