Ladies goals has fallen off from the strong 35% in week 1 but at 28.5% is still the 2nd highest behind Season 4’s 29.6%. I really think this is the best league of ladies we’ve had and fully expect this to finish the season over 30%. Make it happen. Unfortunately on the assist side, this season is among the lowest which really doesn’t make sense… time for some better cuts and perhaps some more risks.

8 players have perfect win records plus 3 additional players have ties but no losses. 8 players have yet to spray the champagne after a win…

48 players remain dropless. Kate Jardine, Taunya Tremblay and Paul McGeachy are the only players to play more than 1 game without a TA.

And now onto updating a shamefully poor performance, which unfortunately I was involved in... I know there are many veteran TPL'ers who came out of week 3 thinking "I wonder if that terrible 16-9 Jub over Denton win was the ugliest game of all time". Jules and Kachina were probably the most interested after their historically awful semester 6 game.

A quick refresher - Ugly Frisbee is normally subjective (shout out to all the Zone D lovers! - yet to make an appearance in Season 7 as far as I know) but in the stats world we need numbers. So I will be using the following ultra-sophisticated formula to calculate a game’s ugliness:

Throw Aways + (1.5 x Drops) + (0.5 x winning margin) – Goals = Ugly Rating

It addresses everything we need and I think we can all agree drops are uglier than throw aways and close ugly games are at least a little more exciting than blowout ugly games

The updated Leaderboard:
Season 6 week 4, Spirit Fingers 15 vs Health 17 = 37.5 (2/3 of all possessions were turnovers - 46 TA, 15 Drops…)
Season 5 week 2, Joelstice 13 vs Kaptain 17 = 36.5 (the previous lowest scoring meaningful game)

SEASON 7 WEEK 3, Force Homeland 16 vs Denton's Backhand 9 = 36
Tidbits:
- the new lowest scoring game in TPL history
- first time a team has scored under 10 (playing a full roster, see Monarchslayers below)
- 38 TAs, 13 Drops, one more drop and it could have taken the all-time lead. Personally I felt like the scorekeepers were VERY kind to the cutters, it felt like our team alone had 13+ drops.
- again 2/3 of possessions were turnovers

Others:
Season 3 week 12 Donthraki 20 vs Monarchslayers 6 = 32 (the previous lowest scoring game but it’s hard to count as this was the last week of the season, not playing for anything game – Monarchslayers played with 9 total players!)
Season 4 week 13 SoLoat 21 vs Joeldi 11 = 31.5 (a semi-final game… ouch, Joeldi with a not-so-impressive 30TA on 11G)
Season 5 week 10, donkey face 14 vs Fourteen 17 = 30
Season 4 week 1, Jubba 20 vs Emmadala 13 = 30
Season 5 week 8, Superfriends 16 vs Fourteen 15 = 28.5 (the best Zone D game in TPL history! Grundy the statkeeper particularly enjoyed this one)
Season 3 week 8, Beard 14 vs DWolves 16 = 28.5 (the other previous lowest scoring meaningful game)

Unfortunately I've been too busy to do any deep dives into the league stats but here are some notable performances that stuck out over the last 2 weeks:

- Joeldeneye 33 - Scoober Impossible 31 is now the highest scoring game in TPL history. Unlike last season's high scoring game that was built on low TAs and crazy offensive efficiency by Vikki's Viktory Lap, this game just seemed to have spurts of no D. Both teams have defensive capabilities but at 10pm they were forgotten about in a fast paced match. It was 20-12 at half, so both halves had a team score at least 19pts! Joeldeneye should have scored 40 but went out with a whimper (Viktory has the record at 38). BC had his career high 9G cherry picking,Hutch tied his 6A high, Jamie 11A and Tommy 8G both 1 off career highs.

- week 5 saw Kirk MacRae get his first career drop at the 25G mark. That cleared the career dropless board of any significant scorers.

- 28 players are currently shown as dropless but around 6-8 are at 2 games or less. Biggest surprise here is Jeff Steele... 35G on no drops. Maybe this is what happens when they aren't all BC hammers? Janssen only on 1 drop, so last season's league leaders have really turned things around. On the flip side, 2 unnamed players are on pace to set a new season record.

- GM Taunya and super reliable Jardine are the only players without a TA

- Shawn Lee leads the league at an undefeated 5-0, Alyne and McGeachy follow at 4-0 and Joanna Nelken at 5-0-1. Will Mercer is the only winless after more than 1 game played. Although it's hard to call a 4-2 record and tied for first a disappointment for GM Denton, it does mark the first time he has lost 2 games in season since Episode IV. Still on an unreal 25-4 run (14-3 lifetime as a GM).

Each GM was also allowed to place one player in the safe house, who would be protected from assassination.

We were caught and the mission I had so long ago abandoned was exposed. Kicking and screaming, they took me away. I was sent to an assimilation camp to be brainwashed. I was told what to think, how to act, who to be. To conform just like every single citizen here. Every day I was reminded to "Force Homeland". Those words were a persistent reminder of what a monolithic entity I am up against. Every week they would put me in battle – making notes of my every move. I smile and play along but deep inside I am counting the days until they let me out. At least they say they will. They hang the slim possibility over my head day in, day out to keep me in line.

I'm tired. I just don’t know how long I can do this for. They know I know they want to keep me here forever.

I need someone to help get me out – please! Show a shred of humanity and help reunite me with my love! I'm a real human being like you. With real feelings, hopes and dreams! Being born on the "wrong" side of this war is something that I have no control over. But at this point, I would do anything. We'll just disappear and never make another sound. Shawn Lee's Mission Report

CLASSIFIED REPORT

[REDACTED] wove through the League War Room, averting his eyes from those of the various leaders all intensely preoccupied with playing The Game. Their attentions mostly diverted to espionage and strategic tradecraft, nobody looked twice. His cunning disguise, a comically bushy moustache and “flesh” toned false nose, would hold up as long as he could keep a low profile.

Somewhere behind [REDACTED], Rajiv was picking through the crowd. [REDACTED] had started on the Rajivian roster, and since his initial defection had narrowly escaped Rajiv’s grasp on multiple occasions. Rajiv was new to The Game, but learning quickly, and had picked up the faint but distinct scent of bourbon.

Rajiv traced the smell to a man with a low hat and trench coat who hadn’t noticed him. Stalking him from behind, Rajiv signalled to his agents to surround his prey and they all slowly converged.

The man in the coat stopped moving.

Rajiv hid his triumph with the flat calm that was the signature of the League. “[REDACTED]. Turn around. Slowly.”

The man in the coat spun with a flourish that was anything but slow, throwing off his coat as he spun, to reveal none other than the Spymaster himself.

Rajiv could not contain his incredulity. “Spymaster Lew!” he exclaimed, “…but where is [REDACTED]?!”

The Spymaster lifted his chin just so. “I suppose he has escaped your grasp for another week, Rajiv. Perhaps you should have kept an eye on your low-salary primary handlers to begin with.”

Lydia's Scouting Report

Gentlemen,

Due to my lack of 007 knowledge this was tough. Not sure how funny you or any of your TPL minions will find this. It was the best I could do.

Dear Mr. Lew, AKA “M” – the old chick from 007

I am writing this request on behalf of Lydia Bracht, a reluctant spy for the team “Scoober Impossible – Rogue Hammer” to be traded. The basis for this request is simple – Lydia wants to be a good guy. Her team does not share this request. In fact, each member of her team reminds her of a nemesis of 007. Here are some prime examples:

Kevin Hutchison AKA “Hutch” AKA – Dr. Julius No

Dr. Julius No’s goal was to disrupt missile tests. Hutch’s goal is to disrupt flow, scoring and good Frisbee.

Aaron Louis AKA AA AKA lots of A’s AKA – Hugo Drax

Put a goatee on AA and you have Hugo Drax. I assume AA is evil both on the field and off. Hugo Drax does a weird hand thing – so does AA (when he drops the Frisbee)

Greg Sheldrake – AKA - Raoul Silva

Greg Sheldrake is a hate-filled villain. How does this affect his Frisbee game you ask? It has left him unwilling and unable to throw a flick. This scorned “backhand specialist” hasn’t seen a dump he didn’t like and an open side throw he did. Keep in mind Mr. Lew, he’s coming for you and will eventually kill you... likely not with a flick (unless it’s a blade)

Last but certainly not least, the leader – BC AKA – Goldfinger

Goldfinger is perhaps the most evil of them all. He challenged Bond in ways many others could not. BC challenges his teammates and opponents the very same way. Whereas Goldfinger had the obvious weakness of gold, BC’s weakness comes in a psychological and possibly physical form – short throws. BC loves throwing deep the way Goldfinger loves his precious gold. His obsession has paralyzed him to the point of no return. Bond strangled Goldfinger to death. What will BC’s teammates do to him?

So you see, this team is filled with pure evil. No person should spend AN ENTIRE SEASON surrounded by it. This is why your mission, should you choose to accept it is to trade Lydia Bracht.

Does anyone remember the good ol' days when the TPL forum was the hottest thing on the BBS? (Hello? Is this thing even on?). Anyway, now that we are in the final weeks and some teams are concerned with trivia things like winning the "championship", can we start up the hype machine for the things that really matter to TPL? Stats! Stats! Stats! The peanut gallery needs more things to cheer for (and, more often than not, to cheer against). And, seriously, are GMs going to just concede the Town Bike award to Shawn Lee? No one will trade Mel and Goose two more times just for fun? Or trade Warren 10 times around the league. As for "serious" stats, Ellis is involved in two tight stat battles (vs. Steele for goals and vs. BC for throwaways).

Word on the street is that there were some hardasses that wouldn't just call the game at the all-nighter when they were up 10 points and there was only 10mins left. Let them sleep!

On another note, holy sh*t! I had forgotten about this thread and didn't realize there was so much reading material. I'll have to revisit at lunch time so I can read Dee's full script.
