Collision, People Fall Down
I have seen this many times. Two people collide and fall down. The handler still has the disc. Should the game stop and let the people pick themselves up, even if no one calls a foul?
What if only one person falls? If there is no foul called, and the defender is the one who falls, wouldn't that give an advantage to the offensive team?

Out of sheer regard for other players on the field, I'd personally stop to ensure everyone is alright if it's not obvious enough that they're not. If they're both on the ground, they'd still be on equal ground if they're both up (as they would naturally anyway to confirm that they're alright).
Otherwise, game on unless the fallen are not getting up. More often than not, I see the victims are taken care of by the opposing player to ensure they're alright and to stop play as necessary.

Ok... so technically play should go on. If play stops it requires a foul or injury call. Even if play does keep going and foul or injury is called later play just resets to the time of the injury/foul, so there isn't a rush to make the call.
I like you find it unsettling when people are on the ground. So spirit of the game would be decided upon by level of play. Rec, I would just yell stop or injury. Touring it would be unspirited to make that call.

Generally in a spirited game at high level if someone is down due to a collision, they standing player would either help them up or wait for them to get up before resuming play. I have only seen it once or twice, where the offensive player took off after a collision, and the crowd let him know it was a douche move.

Guess you haven't played Pheonix or Figjam.

Also it could also depend on the type and direction of collision. If your legs get tangled and someone trips or is someone jumps into you from behind, then often the other player keeps going, if it is a head on collision people generally cringe and stop.
