What Do TUC People Do All Day...

become a mentor in your field

Dear ultimate community,

I'm writing to ask for you to consider becoming a mentor to an internationally trained professional in your field. The Mentoring Partnership is urgently seeking people with experience in Architecture, Engineering, Science, and Supply Chain, but other areas may also have a need. I know that the ulti community is filled with seasoned professionals, and I'm hoping that some of you will be able to help out.

The program matches professionals with skilled immigrants in their field. Mentors commit to just 24 hours of their time over 4 months to assist mentees in adjusting to the Canadian job market. The program provides mentors with professional development seminars, a coach to support them, and a better understanding of the international talent pool.

For the last 4 years, I have had the pleasure of working with many new immigrants who have come to Canada to start a new life. They bring enormous amounts of experience, energy, and perseverance, and it is frustrating to see their talents under-utilized because they don't know the system or have the connections they used to have in their country of origin. Please consider spending some of your valuable time to make a difference; I myself have found it to be a rewarding experience.

To learn more please send me a note (tedocheff at gmail d.o.t. com), visit ... torprocess, or contact Janet Gaffney (janet d.o.t. gaffney at sheridancollege d.o.t. ca, 905-845-9430 ext. 8134) and tell her I sent you.

If now's not a good time for you or if mentoring's not your thing, I would appreciate if you could pass this message along to those in your network who might be interested.

Many thanks,
