2:00p EST WOMENS FINAL:
#1 California-Santa Barbara Burning Skirts vs #8 Michigan Flywheel

Michigan, from Ann Arbor, took out two of the top four seeds on their way to meet the top seed in the Finals. They've already played and lost 15-11 to California-Santa Barbara in pool play. In there only other meeting back in February, Michigan lost 13-8 to the Burning Skirts. This is Michigan's 5th trip and 5th in a row to Nationals, their previous bests, two trips to the Finals.

The Skirts are three time Champions in '88, '90 and '91, before a 13 year hiatus from the natinal scene. They have gone to the Finals four times since 2007 winning once. This will be their 5th consecutive Finals.

4:00p EST OPEN FINAL: maybe 4:30p
Undefeated #12 Carleton College vs. #4 Wisconsin Hodags

The teams are 2-2 head to head this year, Carleton losing only 5 games all year, two others against Florida and once against Iowa at Regionals where they also counted one of their loses to Wisconsin, which is why they were only seeded 12th. Wisconsin has lost only once (on Saturday after already qualifying and resting their big boys), since April winning three tournaments including regionals, so going 6-1 so far this weekend. Colin Camp of Wisconsin led them to victory in the semis Sunday with two assists and eight goals in his teams 14-10 victory over home town favs Colorado. From Madison Wi. the Hodags have won 3 National titles and made 5 Finals appearances since 2001.

Carleton College, team name CUT, have been at the top for a while. Up to 2006 they had qualified for Nationals 16 years in a row, finally missing out when the Central Region got only one bid. They've won twice, in '01 and '09 and finished 2nd last year.

Quick correction to USA Ultimate's preview: this is Michigan's 3rd trip to the finals, ahaving lost to UC Davis in '89, and UC Santa Barbara in '90. Their previous best is not 5th place.

Fly what?! Flywheel!
