Maverick 2014 tryouts starting in April

Maverick and Goose tryouts are beginning indoors in early April

The Academy is getting started early in 2014. We're pushing for the podium at the Canadian Ultimate Championships, being held in our own backyard, and starting tryouts a month earlier than usual to make sure we're ready.

We'll be holding 3-hour tryouts in Guelph and Kitchener. Plan to attend as many of these as possible, as we will be building on concepts week-to-week:

April 12th, 8am-11am, UofG Field House (Guelph)
April 20th, 8am-11am, UofG Field House (Guelph)
April 26th, 12pm-3pm, Woodside Park (Kitchener)

Our goals this season are:
1. Finish top-3 at Nationals, held in Waterloo this August.
2. Maintain a solid program for subsequent years
3. Improve team bonding, chemistry, and fitness

Tryouts will be used to identify the core players that will be part of Maverick at CUC in August, to allow those players to gel over the coming months (Goals 1 and 3). We are also looking for young, talented players who will be part of the program for years to come, and for players with natural leadership ability who can take the program forward (Goal 2). These players may start the year with Goose, but will all be in the running for the remaining Maverick CUC roster spots.
