After a year hiatus, the Toronto Ultimate Club hosted its 9th annual Catch the Spirit High School Indoor Tournament on Thursday February 27th and Friday 28th at Monarch Park Stadium. This celebration of Ultimate emphasizes the spirit of the game, skill development and balanced competition for all teams involved over the two days. It is a great opportunity to teach the game of Ultimate and get teams warmed up for the upcoming school season.
The tournament this year was held in the bubble at Monarch Park Stadium from 9:30 AM to 5:00 PM, the format being continuous-play (speedpoint), 6-on-6, mixed gender (4:2 boys to girls). The tournament hosted 32 high school Ultimate teams in two divisions of play. Each day featured 16 teams with the B division taking place on Thursday and A division on Friday.
Congrats goes out to North Toronto who took home the B division championships and to Innisdale for their convincing performance throughout the tournament to win the A division championships. Also a big congrats goes out to the tournament spirit winners, St. Mary’s for the B division and Bethune for the A division.
