Dangerous Play Rule Change - Further Statement
Re: Dangerous Play Rule Change Pilot Project
January 31st, 2019
It is great to see the community engaging in an active and spirited discussion around the game they are passionate about. This pilot project was introduced as a result of a few factors. Two factors that stand out are safe play and the evolution of the game.
The first factor, safe play, is the recognition that TUC saw a spike in on field injuries with the common element being players colliding and some of...
Dangerous Play Rule Change
TUC will be implementing a pilot project (in the Thursday Downsview HAT league and the Thursday Monarch Elite league) where the WFDF Dangerous Play rule will replace the USAU Dangerous Play rule. The goal of this change is to provide a safe environment for all TUC players in all games. At the core level, Ultimate is a non-contact sport and this rule embodies this principle of the game. Know up front this change will not be a perfect solution to something that may have happened in one of your past games and it will take time for all players to make an adjustment. How you play the game and communicate with your fellow players is the best way to implement change in your community. As always, play with spirit.

The rule being implemented is the WFDF Dangerous Play Rule 17.1.1:

TUC EQUITY INCLUSIVITY INITIATIVE
Why the Change?
TUC is striving to make our community a more welcoming environment for all players regardless of gender, gender identity, class, or race. The volunteers that help run our leagues are still learning, and still have more work to do - please reach out to any of us at any time to provide feedback, ideas, encouragement, or if you’d like to help us in any way.
Our Board of Directors recognizes the gender inequities in sport and is working towards making ultimate more equitable for players by increasing opportunities for women and non-binary players, encouraging participation in leadership, and creating an environment in which all voices are heard and valued.

TUC Member 2017-2018 Fees
Dear Valued TUC Member,
As transparency is always extremely important for us, the purpose of this letter is to provide you with an expanded explanation behind the recently released 2017-2018 memberships, league fees and their associated costs.
As you might know, the price of field rentals in the City of Toronto continue to rise year over year. The TUC staff and Board of Directors are continually working hard to try to keep these fees manageable, and are also looking for additional cost effective venues to rent field time at. This said, you will no doubt notice some changes in your membership and league fees for 2017-2018.
In 2016 we were made aware that Razor Management Inc. (RMI) and Raizenne Inc. (RI) had received an annual property tax bill in the amount of $200,000 per each facility (Monarch Park Stadium and Central Tech Stadium). In addition, RMI/RI were also levied a three year back tax bill for Monarch...See more...
